The Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation announces the next President and CEO will be the Rev. Dr. Dustin Petz

HUTCHINSON, KS – The Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation Board of Trustees is proud to announce that the Rev. Dr. Dustin Petz will be the next President and CEO of the Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation of the Great Plains Annual Conference effective July 1, 2018. Petz comes to the Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation from his pastoral appointment at First United Methodist Church of Norfolk, NE.

“Dustin’s vital strengths for this role are his financial expertise and understanding of the joy of giving generously toward a vision that changes lives,” said Bruce Schwyhart, Foundation’s Board of Trustees Chairperson. “We could not be happier that he will be leading the Foundation into its next chapter to continue to develop and deepen relationships with the clergy and laity of our Conference. His ability to lead, manage, and inspire will strengthen the Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation’s effectiveness in generosity and in planned giving to sustain the various ministries in our local churches throughout the Great Plains Conference.”

An ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, Petz has been a pastor for the past 18 years, serving communities and congregations across Kansas and Nebraska. Petz has experience serving on the General Council on Finance and Administration of the United Methodist Church as Chair of the Fiduciary, Foundation, and Property Matters Committee and the Investment Committee, as well as on the Board of Trustees for Saint Paul School of Theology. He is currently the Vice Chairperson of the Council on Finance and Administration for the Great Plains Conference and serves on the Philanthropy Council of Northeast Nebraska.

“I am very excited to serve God and the Great Plains Conference in this role. The people in the pews and the pastors in the pulpits are our greatest strength. I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know them more closely, as an ally, a resource, and as the next President and CEO of the Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation,” said Petz. “My wife and I are Kansans. We both have served in a variety of leadership roles and ministry settings in all areas of the Great Plains Conference. We know Kansas, this conference, and many of its people. I see my leadership skills continuing with the Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation, a ministry through which I am called to give back to those of the church of today and for generations to come.”

A 1998 graduate of Kansas State University a Bachelor of Science, Agribusiness, Petz received a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Saint Paul School of Theology, 2003, a Master of Theology (Th.M.) from Princeton Theological Seminary, 2005, and earned a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) from Wesley Theological Seminary in 2013.
